Is it a carpenter ant or a termite?

At first glance, carpenter ants and termites look similar, but they have some distinct differences that help us determine which Northwest pest you have.

A carpenter ant, for example, has three distinct body parts and a pinched waist. It has two sets of wings of different sizes.

A termite, on the other hand, has only two body parts – a head and a body. It also has two sets of wings but its wings are all the same size.
